Background
Jonathan Yim is a Founding Partner at BC Law Group, P.C., where he focuses on valuing intellectual property with particular emphasis on high-technology patents in the wireless and consumer electronics industries. His practice spans all aspects of patent litigation, where he is responsible for formulating damages theories with economics and survey experts and defending them at the Daubert, trial, and appellate stages. Jonathan’s damages experience extends to advising clients on patent licensing and acquisition, as well as FRAND issues.
Prior to joining BC Law Group, Jonathan was a principal at McKool Smith, where he helped clients recover more than $1 billion in judgments and settlements. He also represented several financial institutions in connection with the Department of Justice’s Program for Swiss Banks, and under a New York State Department of Financial Services monitorship he led teams of lawyers and forensic consultants in three countries to investigate criminal and compliance matters of an international bank.
While in law school, Jonathan served as editor-in-chief of The International Lawyer, the official quarterly publication of the American Bar Association’s International Law Section. Before law school, Jonathan was a U.S. Fulbright grantee to Austria, where he conducted research in historical musicology at the University of Vienna and the Austrian National Library.

Optis Wireless Technology – Counsel for Optis in the Eastern District of Texas against Apple in a patent infringement action involving wireless communications that resulted in a $506 million and $300 million damages verdicts.
Wi-LAN, Inc. – Counsel for Wi-LAN in the Southern District of California, recently securing $145 million and $85 million damages verdicts against Apple concerning two patents related to voice over LTE (“VoLTE”) wireless communication technology.
i4i L.P. and Infrastructures for Information Inc. — Counsel for i4i in the Eastern District of Texas in a patent infringement action against Microsoft involving a method and system for manipulating architecture and content of a document separately from each other, securing a $290 million judgment that was upheld by the United States Supreme Court.
